Estrella Damm unites the world’s most vibrant cities in a Culinary Journey

Beloved Spanish beer Estrella Damm is once again giving the world’s urban foodies something to talk about – and savour – with the return of the Estrella Damm Culinary Journey.

This spring, Estrella Damm – the “beer of Barcelona” – has teamed up with restaurants from across the globe to offer an exclusive dining experience. From their restaurant kitchens in vibrant cities, esteemed chefs have created dishes and tasting menus to pair with an ice-cold Estrella Damm beer.

Sounds like the start of summer to us.

Toronto is in on the action, like it’s been in the past. This time, a total of 31 restaurants from across the city – from Midtown and Yorkville to Leslieville – are participating in the Estrella Damm Culinary Journey. From see-and-be-seen hot spots to long-time staples, some of Toronto’s most celebrated restaurants will offer up some of their crowd-pleasing dishes, expertly paired with an Estrella Damm beer. This includes places like Bar Isabel, DaiLo, Lena, and Patria (just to name a few).

From South Beach to Coral Gables and Wynwood, 40 participating Miami restaurants include buzzed-about places like The Bazaar, Barceloneta, and Doya. The Estrella Damm Culinary Journey is also done in Dubai, Athens, and Chile.

“At Damm, we have always worked with the hostelry and gastronomy sector,” says Albert Sansalvador Santander – Estrella Damm  Country Manager, Canada & US. “In that way we developed this program to show our support to them. Since the beginning of the Estrella Damm Culinary Journey, we have been putting our efforts in being able to deliver the best experience we can to the people so everybody is free to participate and enjoy their city in a new exciting and different way that allows them to taste new meals and locations they didn’t knew and at the same time support the hostelry sector.”

While the Estrella Damm Culinary Journey undoubtedly makes for a tasty excuse to rediscover your city, one beer pairing at a time, it also offers a reliable way to discover new restaurants when travelling this spring. From Athens to Miami, a cold Estrella Damm beer is the common thread – and conversation starter. (By the way, it’s not too late to add the Estrella Damm Culinary Journey to a Greece trip itinerary; the Athens Culinary Journey takes place June 2-26).

From its small-scale roots when it launched in 2014, the Estrella Damm Culinary Journey has grown significantly in scope in recent years. It began as a program called “Ruta de Tapas,” which essentially refers to the typical Spanish meal that consists of eating different small bites.

“At that time, we used local websites from partners and we had a different look and feel,” says Albert Sansalvador Santander – Country Manager, Canada & US. “It has been growing every year by looking for new ways of improving our program, including more restaurants and making it more accessible for everybody in the city. What started as a cool local event has now its own website and is taking place in five different countries so far this year.”

As we emerge from the pandemic, experiences that help to support the hard-hit restaurant industry, like the Estrella Damm Culinary Journey, are more important than ever. While we never really need an excuse to support a local (or international) restaurant, the prospect of an expertly curated beer pairing undoubtedly adds extra incentive to make that reservation.
