Raise A Pint To Celebrate As Temperance House In Newtown Turns 250
NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA — The historic Temperance House in the heart of Newtown will celebrate its 250th anniversary on Monday, Dec. 5.
And Proprietress Kathy Buczek invites the patrons and friends to join her at 6 p.m. in raising a pint in celebration of the milestone.
Although some historians believe there may have been a tavern at the location 50 years earlier, Andrew and Nancy McMinn built the first part of the Temperance House at 5 South State Street, circa 1772, according to the Newtown Historic Association.
